by Alan Chambers on Saturday 26th April 2008 (Comment on this news item.)
Woodingdean Bowls club's green was officially opened of Friday the 25th of April during a visit by the Mayor of Brighton and Hove, councillor Carol Theobald. Our club was the last to be visited by the oficial party on what was a very busy day for them, their first engaement was a 9:45am and ended with the visit to Woodingdean at 4pm.
Councillor Theobald displayed some fine bowling skills during her visit, she is either a natural or had a lot of practice during her tour!
Following the opening ceremony al involved then partook of the fine hospitality laid on and special mention must go to Elaine Vickers and Joan Tomkins for their wonderful efforts on the day, they really helped show what Woodingdean Bowls club is all about, thank you ladies.
There was a drive before the mayor visited and I urge all of you now that the green is open to get out there and bowl, we've got some of the best facilities for miles around, get out there and make the most of them.
