The Club is affiliated to the EBA, EWBA, SCBA and SCWBA.
History
The Club is located in facilities owned by Brighton and Hove Council. The members carried out extension works to the Clubhouse in 1992 and so greatly improved the facilities. These included new changing rooms, larger seating and clubroom area. The bar and kitchen were modernised.
The work continues. 2006 saw the refurbishment of the gents toilet facilities and 2007 saw the completion of the patio extension, redecoration of the clubroom and changing rooms and an upgrade of the ladies toilet wash facilities.
Matches
The Season is traditionally opened by the Mayor of Brighton & Hove.
As well as friendly matches, the Club has 3 Mens teams competing in the Brighton, Hove and District League and Bill Hawkins Cup. We have a mixed team which competes in the Meridian League. Our Mens and Ladies teams compete in National and County Competitions, Edward Rowland and Gladys Rowland Cup Competitions.
In 2006, one of our Mens triples teams finished runners-up in the Sussex County Competition and progressed to the National competition.
We have varied internal Club Competitions which take place throughout the season as well as Captains’ Day and various Club Drives.
Our Club has a Finals Day in August. There are Finals for the Jubilee Shield, Two Wood Trophy and Century Cup on other dates.
Every other year, the Club have a tour. This year we are travelling to Stratford-Upon-Avon. In 2005, we visited Dorset, staying in Weymouth and made new friends in that area of the Country.
Touring teams are warmly welcomed to our Club. We have played host to many teams over the years with great success and our entertainment and catering skills have been tested on days of inclement weather. The sights and entertainment of the city of Brighton and Hove and the rest of the counties of East and West Sussex are a great attraction; as are of course the other Bowling Clubs within our area.
Please contact our fixtures secretary to make enquiries regarding dates which will fit in with your tour arrangements.
